I am so sad today. Would never had thought I would be. Go figure.

I am a Catholic and my pope passed away. It feels a little like the death of my father.

I'm sorry, Enrique, I heard the news just after I replied to your post. He was a good man, and he fought a hard fight.
It was a sad day indeed.

Thanks Sumr. I am fine now. This was going to happen sometime. He was special for Argentina and Chile because when we were less than 24 hours away from avery nasty war over some icy islands, he brokered a peace deal that was the foundation over which both countries solved all their border conflicts.

He came to Argentina twice and I attended services during both visits. He spoke perfect spanish. It was very intense. Like a huge cellebration or party.

I am better today. It is after all a very natural thing and I have to rely on my faith that he is exactly where he is supposed to be.

I hope you are better too.

Enrique

Do not be sad

The true believer in afterlife understands that the Pope is much better off now if he has passed judgement. If you stop and reflect for a moment, we are only be sad for selfish reasons when someone we admire passes.

Thanks Aussie. I already am exactly in the stage you describe. Admiration for a long full life that touched many.

Hi Grandpa.

I know. It was a selfish thing. I was a little surprised myself.

Every now and then being selfish is ok. I'm not surprised that his passing depressed you. It takes time to cope with death. I'm sure you'll cope just fine. What will be reallyinteresting is to see who they make the next Pope and how he will be different. yf, Tom
