Ok, yeah, I finished it like......early Monday morning at about 2am. Fucking brilliant. Just.....BRILLIANT!
First of all, I fucking loved the book. Not as much as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but a close second. However, WE DIDN'T FIND OUT WE DUDLEY SEEN WHEN HE WAS ATTACKED BY THE DEMENTOR! Nor did we learn that there was more to Petunia than there appeared to be....except that at one time she did protect her sister, but then turned into BITCH because she couldn't do magic. But hell, I could have guessed that!
Hedwig dying?! That was the most pointless death, ever. Why, oh, why?
The Dursley's weren't heard from again after the 2nd chapter. Since Dudley did come to appreciate Harry in the end, it would have been nice to know whether Harry and Dudley ever came to co-exist, or :O even be friends! And yeah, the part where Dudley compliments Harry did make me tear up a little. Awww....
"The Seven Potters" was just a weird chapter. Genius solution, but weird. LOL, that's all I'll say about that.
Man! I thought at first Hagrid had died, I was gonna shit bricks. What the hell?! But, he was one of the few that lived--good stuff. He deserves it.
"Pathetic! Pathetic! With a whole wide world of ear-related humor before you, you go for holey?" LOL! I love Fred and George, or Fred and George, I should say.
That Scrimgeour dude is an ASSHOLE! I didn't fully understand the asshole-y-ness until this book. What a fucking idiot. He deserved to die. I was surprised the Minstry got taken over though, of course Umbridge was still allowed to work there. Man, the Centaurs so should killed her evil ass when they had the chance in HBP.
Bill and Fleur's Wedding.....so weird. Death Eaters at a wedding? Seriously? HAVE THEY EVER MET A BRIDE? Trust me, if that had been real, Fleur would have gone Bridezilla on all of 'em and Avada Kedavra'd their asses right there! Ya'll know better!
The jinx on Voldie's name was genius too, I never would have thought of some shit like that. It's amazing.
I'm glad Kreacher turned out to be a good guy. Something that was brought up, I can't remember if it was in a book, or on a message board. But anyway, it was the fact that the wizarding world was gonna pay for how it treated the elves. I think this is a brilliant point, and good lesson. We will all, at some point, pay for how we treat those more disadvantaged than us. That has been a real theme throughout the book--respect for all life. Remember in POA when Sirius said of Lucius "Look at how a man treats his inferiors, not his equals." I love that quote, always have. If it's one thing to take away from the series, it's that.
Lupin and Harry's fight was awesome.....and Harry was so fucking right. LOL, a little bitchy, but right nonetheless! Did they ever resolve it, though? I don't think they did. That sucked.
Ron leaving was a bit of a surprise. LOL, maybe JKR just got writer's block w/ his character and couldn't figure out what to do with him, so just sent him off!
The Silver Doe thing was fucking crazy.....you catch it at the very end, just a weird little tie-in I didn't even think about. Who the fuck would think Snape's patronus would be an effing FEMALE DEER!
Wait, I just thought of something. If Voldemort being in power put the whole world in danger......why the fuck didn't the rest of the wizarding world come to England's aid? WHERE THE FUCK WAS BULGARIA AND FRANCE, GOT DAMNIT! There was such an emphasis put on International Cooperation in GOF, because Voldie was coming back......and then nothing ever became of it. What the hell?
Oh yeah, R.A.B rocks my world! I forgot about that, poor guy. Sirius never knew his brother was a hero, either. Damn.
The Deathly Hallows.....I don't care. I got how it was related to making DD look more human and flawed, but it didn't have shit to do with the story, really. I least, I didn't feel like it. So, Harry's cloak was a hallow, he got to talk to his parents and mentors before he went to "die" (although he would have seen them in the afterlife anyway, so I didn't get that part), and then he had the most powerful wand in the world, which he gave up. .......AND?! However, hallows or horcruxes? It's good to see that in some ways, Harry was smarter than my Dumbledore.
Dude, I balled when Dobby died. Son of a bitch, man. That one affected me more than any of the others. I don't know why. I was doing ok until "Here Lies Dobby, A Free Elf," and then I lost it!
I didn't like the Goblins, they got on my fucking nerves. Yeah, wizards treat them bad....and I understand what they're feeling, oppressed and all. But man, what fuckers.
Aberforth was awesome. What a character, man. I would have liked to see more of him in the books, honestly. Cool dude.
The Diadem thing was weird, and Helena Ravenclaw? Damn girl.
Neville rocks my world, going all Fred and George on me, fucking with the Carrows.
My favorite chapter was "The Battle of Hogwarts" How awesome, man. LOL@Neville and the fucking Mandrakes. LOL, that shit was funny.
Crabbe dying, again, random as hell. Malfoy was scared as hell, too. Poor baby, I pity him--because he was so unprepared for life, man. Though his parents loved him, they didn't do a good job. "IF WE DIE FOR THEM I'LL KILL YOU HARRY!!" Ron's lines in this book were great!
Fred......man, wow. That was a bad death too. The Weasley Twins are my 2nd favorites, after Dumbleydore. I couldn't even imagine losing my brother, seriously. And I would think Mrs. Weasley would have just went insane the moment she knew. Wasn't that her worst fear, or something?
SNAPE IS GOOD! DAMN! I was hoping he'd be bad. I figured he loved Lilly, but them being friends? LOL, never even occured to me. He did right by Harry, in the end. And the "Look.......at......me" reference Harry having Lily's eyes? That's what saved Harry's ass! It brought it all full circle though, that one phrase. Really weird moment. I was hoping Snape would live and he and Harry could have been friends. But, no such luck. Boo.
Yeah, so, here again w/ a book with Christian allegory. Man sacrifices self to save the world, and then comes back to life (Well, never really died....same difference) I never even thought of that one! How fucking GENIUS! I figured Harry was a Horcrux, but just the part of Voldie's soul inside Harry dying was unexpected.
I was balling the whole time Harry was thinking he had to die, and was reminicising on everything he loved. That was so hard to read....I can't even imagine having to do that. Just, awesome.
THE LETS-WRAP-IT-UP-FOR-YA DUMBLEDORE TALK! If the talk happened in Harry's head....how was he able to see and touch DD, then? I didn't quite understand that part. But, of fucking course! By Harry choosing to die, as his mother did, he protected all of us loved ones. HOW FUCKING SIMPLE! WHY DID NO ONE THINK OF THIS?!?! Of course, by the time I got too "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" I was inconsoulable. (sp?!) Seriously, Dumbledore always makes me cry, and think. I think he has the best quotes on the whole damn series, ahead of allllllll the other fucking characters. That is MY MAN, and I love him too death. Dumbledore's Girl for fucking real!
Am I the only one who has a soft spot for Bellatrix? Sure, she's a psychopathic crazy bitch....but she's so delightfully EVIL! It's hilarious, and I find myself sometimes in the back of my mind rooting for her evilness. It's so weird. LOL, but I'm probably the only one.
Uh yeah, of course, "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" wins at life. Best line in the whole fucking book! Along with, "Get back! Get back! She is mine!" LOL, I was rollin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome shit. Molly Weasley rocks my motherfucking world!! I am disappointed that never didn't get to kill her. But, he did get to kill the snake and save the world. So, ya know, that might have been a better cause.
Harry talking down to Voldie and breaking shit down like a Kindergarten was HILARIOUS! "You dare...." "YES, I DARE!" I just kept wanting to add "....., bitch!" on the end of the sentence everytime Harry said that shit.
Oh yeah! Ron and Hermione finally hook up! Hellz yeah!
The Epilogue? WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! However, Albus Severus and Scorpius are the most badass of badass names! I can't see Hermione as a mother though, seriously. She is just way to OCD for my ass. I'd have to learn that Silencing jinx at like fucking 2 years old. However, I did hear JKR is gonna be writing a Harry Potter Encyclopedia, detailing what happened to the characters and wizarding world after Voldie, plus characters and events from before Voldie was killed by "The-Boy-Who-Lived." She said there will be much more detail in that. So, I guess I can excuse that poor as excuse for a Epilogue.
Overall, I loved the book, and will be reading it again soon. Very, very awesome.
