Oh man August was really really rough for me.
I was having a lot of problems with the Korean kids. They were ignoring rules that my superiors and I gave. I know, kids are kids but some of the worst offenders were the teenagers. What the hell, guys! I can't be running after a group of teenage girls who want to flirt with their stupid chaperon when I ( Read more... )

It's stressful, but it has it's merits. I really liked working with the teachers and the International Program executives. Also the little ones had to do speeches and it so cute when they try to say anglophone names like Terry Fox! <3

Does stalking happen a lot in Korea or something? I keep stumbling onto these horrible stories about how Asian celebrities keep getting attacked or mobbed when they go to Korea. Or -if persona3 has taught me anything- will you get stalked in other parts of Asia as well just for being pretty? That can't possibly be how oriental chicks try to woo people. Smothering is not love. >:/

Touché. Crazy stalker teenagers are crazy no matter where you are. In Canada wooing someone sort of depends on what sort of family you come from. If the majority of people in the area are from Europe or european families, then when you like someone you act like you hate their guts. Hints are probably a more rational way of doing things but I prefer to get into a battle of wits. lol I find differences in cultures fascinating moreover, I like finding out what is the cause of these differences in two similar cultures and similarities between two dissimilar cultures.
I'm nerdy like that. /cleans glasses

How is America portrayed in Singaporean media? Is it really glorified? :/ I don't enjoy it when I see a whole groups of these Korean/Japanese/Taiwanese kids acting like America is the most magical place on earth.

HAHA this is why I don't work with kids anymore. I worked with 'em for years and I had the last straw- oh about 2 years ago? The younger like 5 year olds are easiest to manage since they're usually easiest to please. "Look kiddies, we're making UFOs with paper plates!" OooOOh AhhhHH! Kept 'em busy for an hour or two. The older they get, however, the worse. Damn kids with their own brains and wills ( ... )

I was working at ESL (English as a Second Language) + International Summer School. My duties were that of a secretary and a sort of freelancer. If there was stuff that was needed to be done, I'd do it. I ended up doing a lot of classroom idea preparation (ie. examples for projects that the kids could do), photocopying and tutoring the kids who needed some extra help ( ... )
