#5 is my most obscure 'toon on the list, by far I'd say.
Its a show older than SM.

But let me check IMDB & see if SM fits. If it does then I will post a 4th clue for #5, alrighty?

Wow not even 1 of the keywords "manga - teen - space" is listed for Sailor Moon. Closest one is "pre-teen".

*looks thoughtful* Wow! Dunno how close I'll get -- but I'm trying. For the record -- would've gotten Gummi's 'cause I used to *love* that show & Gargoyles too because I just did a ton of research the other day for a fanfic based around Oberon & the cartoon came up in the research material.

Guesses:

1. hollywood - spoof - breaking the 4th wall -> Animaniacs?

3. time portal - quest - megalomaniac -> Care Bears? Smurfs?

4. swordsman - magic - based on toy -> HeMan, Master of the Universe?

5. Manga - teen - space -> I'm stumped on this one. I would've guessed Sailor Moon, same as Kris. Can't think of a manga earlier, but I haven't watched much anime. *sighs* Where is Cal when you need her?

1 - The 4th wall thing always means Animaniascs to me :-)
4 - Yup, He-man it is :-)

#3 is a *much* newer show; it was still in production a couple years ago.

#5 is an old show, from way back when manga cartoons first hit US shores in the early 80's. When I watched it, it was dubbed in spanish. Maybe it wasn't really marketed to the US; it was a cheap cartoon for a latin station to buy. Maybe that's why I remember it.

Ok back from the flogging...

It cleared my head a little - #3 is Samurai Jack... (it's scary how thinking of a megalomaniac clears it all up)

for #5 - all I remember from that era are those cheap not quite animated shows that were big blue bots and another about zoltar or something like that
