Great start

I read the prologue and chapter 1 this weekend late Saturday night. I got up Sunday and reread it because it was that good. Matthew following his duty is really Matthew, Mary thinking the people she loves shouldn't fight (while likely being fine with others being canon fodder) is very flawed and very Mary. I'm looking forward to seeing Matthew/Mary develop and of course Violet being displeased is always the fun. Awesome start.

I'm glad you think Matthew and Mary are in character. Mary especially I find interesting to write because she is so flawed. I happen to like her a lot as a character, but I really want to capture the failings in her character because I think that makes her human and interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to manage that!

Anyway, next chapter should be up soon *fingers crossed* and I hope it proves entertaining.
