Last build & New Outfit

Sep 14, 2005 11:10

Well, this non-flying ROCKET SHIP is the last thing I will be building in SL. Gave up last night after trying to make it fly. Linden Labs, the makers of Second Life are too damn cheap to have real docs, instead relying on Wiki docs...and Wiki is less useful to someone with a question than a manual in mandarin chinese....sorry but end users do ( Read more... )

Nice outfit. :-) Sorry to hear about the building issues, though.

I am thinking of taking the upper and lower arm armor (its copyable, but not transferrable) and attaching copies to upper thighs and lower legs to give it a fuller look.

The space suit is on sale at the local ingame mall, but for all the positive comments on it, not sold one so far. :)

I think the copying of the arm armor would be a good idea!

Give people time to find your nifty space suit.

Hey LM! Offtopic but what class you playing in WoW (if you are still playing)? Lots of good changes last patch for hunters...new class abilities, new pet abilities, growl is now free, etc.

...ten seconds on the Linden Scripting Language Wiki is hardly 'bad documentation' that I can see.

From the homepage under "Function Categories" the vehicles link presents a page which explains that the official LSL Docs (the Wiki is actually considered unoffocial, but sanctioned) included very detailed documentation about how Vehicles work, and the various functions associated with them.

In the same paragraph, they include a link to a transcription of the Linden Vehicle Tutorial from the official docs.

If you need help actually getting the vehicle working I can step you through it, also. There are also numerous free vehicle scripts available in-game in the various junkyards, many of which are editable, YadNi's junkyard being by far the largest and most garrish of the lot.

And if you can think of a better way to lay out the LSL Wiki, please, state your case or give an example of what would be better and why! We're always open to discussion.

I'd have to disagree with you for the reason why the scripts weren't commented. Blocking viewing? That I'll buy as discouraging competition. Lack of comments? Lazy coders, or folks that honestly don't know how it works, just wedging values they don't understand in there until it runs.

As for the rest... difference of opinion. I find the Wiki very intuitive to navigate, and the problems which to you seem major, to me seem minor and something that will, and in fact is already, getting fixed.

Yay, brute force wedging! ;-)
