yay! another chapter! and a doozy! Irene, Dominika, sex confessions, father/son bonding! And a cliffhanger! I like how you've written Irene - very in character, sexy but dangerous and a bit unlikeable actually, and also how Sherlock responds to her. Well done!

Thank you so much! (And for keeping up the comments throughout, they really provide the impetus to keep me posting as regularly as I can! :)

Quite a lot of this chapter has been in my head ever since I first started writing the story, though there were various things I needed to put into place first before introducing Irene. Having said that, Dominika was a new element because I'd only just seen the episode where she comes back when I was up to chapter 7 and I had a "argh! House is *living* with her? I didn't know that!!" moment. :) But I thought she was a nice, laid-back complement to the rest of them with their various mind games.

I can't say I *like* Irene either, though she is a fantastic character to write and very useful in this story where the male leads are pretty repressed when it comes to expressing feelings normally. I doubt Sherlock likes her much either, though he obviously found her intriguing and attractive - until in this story, he's explored that and probably been as disappointed as she was. ;)

Oh I'm always so pleased to see an update! I haven't actually seen the House episode with Dominika (actually I've seen very few House eps, but enough to know who the main characters are) but you seemed to introduce her in advance and seemlessly. I do like her as a foil to the other characters but because of her accent and because I haven't actually seen the character unfortunately I keep imagining Sophia from Two Broke Girls, and I'm sure she is nothing like that! ;) will have to look her up on youtube I guess ( ... )

Apologies for the late response. Unbelievably busy RL week here.

I dare say some people may have liked Dominika so you'll probably find some scenes with her online. I wasn't very struck on the character's return or interested in her relationship (or lack thereof) with House. But I'm always game to play with whatever a show throws at me, and in this case, it dovetailed nicely with Irene's appearance.

I have a draft of chapter 10 which just needs a rewrite and a beta... which since my betas are as bogged down in RL as I am, means it may still be a couple of weeks before I can post it. But it is coming and the end is nigh. :)

Yay, a new chapter! :-D
Oh, I loved all these fake married people (and half of them fake dead) going out for dinner! What brilliant fun! XD Also, I really like the way you like Irene, sexy and always knowing how to play things. And it'll be interesting to see more of her relationship with Sherlock.
The making music together was lovely, too, of course and I'm impressed by the little snippets into their past with you've thought out very believably. :-)

Most of this chapter pretty much wrote itself because them playing Danse Macabre and the flashback to Margaret were in my mind from the start of the story. Dominika was a late addition as I hadn't seen those episodes until halfway through writing the story, but in the end, it meant that father and son were effectively double dating - only with Sherlock rather hoping for another massage from his stepmother and House leering at his daughter-in-law.

Irene is great fun to write; she sees right through all the men and can work things out about them that they don't necessarily notice about each other. ;)

Loved the little family gathering, and House and Sherlock playing music together. :-)

I've been listening to Danse Macabre on my phone to and from work and having heard the piano-and-violin version, I could imagine Sherlock playing it with House following along in his talented way. And it turned out to be very convenient that the story's setting in the middle of season 8 of House meant that House and Sherlock ended up effectively double dating. ;)
