Image Dump 1 -- Trick or Treat

Nov 03, 2006 02:09

Ah I promised this post a while ago, and now I have pictures too! Whee!! Totally forgot I'd had them until I went to take some pictures of the SNOW! Yes, we got SNOW! And thatzookid was the first priveledged victim of my internet!snowball attacks of the season.

My hometown is weird and celebrate Trick or Treat on the last Thursday in October every year. 'Parents won't miss the day' and 'makes things safer' whatnot. Whatever. As long as I can dress up and have fun I don't care what day we have it.

Lets start with Last Halloween, to introduce the two actors of our post.

That's me, pretending to be Hermione Granger fending off a scary-faced Voldemort.

So we have Angi and we have Voldie!Scarecrow. Got the actors down pat? Good. Now onward to this year!

I decided I really wanted to dress up if I could and put on some sort of show, because really, what houses do you remember going to as a kid? The one with the freaky decorations or the one with the funny/cool/lame adult that dressed up to give you a good time? ...Well I remember the dressed up adults so I decided to be one.

BEHOLD! Angi as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West! Complete with green face paint that itched like hell and was removed as soon as she was done making the rounds.

The dress was part of a Guinevere costume from Party City and the cloak/broom/hat from WalMart, but I think it worked out okay. Obviously I look nothing like Elphaba, and no one would know who I was, so I just kept saying "WHO DARES COME TO THE WITCH OF THE WEST?!!" Seemed to scare the kids well enough. I even made a little cowboy cry, I felt so terrible! I broke character for him and offered two more suckers (we had dumdums, Reese's, Snickers, Three Muskateers, Nestle Crunch, and Butterfingers) that seemed to make him feel better.

Dad didn't get any pictures of me with the kiddies going around, but he did get me between them. I had music playing in the background, a mix CD of Wicked, Harry Potter, Evanescence, Queensryche, darker Final Fantasy songs (like Ultimacea's castle from 8), and 'VooDoo' by Godsmack. It worked well enough, and when a song from Wicked came on ('Defying Gravity'; 'No Good Deed') I acted them out. My neighbors were cracking up and the parents applauded. I had fun! Sadly Dad didn't get pictures of those times either, but he swears if I do this again next year he's breaking out the video camera. Oh, and yes, that is my copy of 'Order of the Phoenix' that I'm using for a spellbook, sans the cover. I kept reading over and over again about how something bad had happened to Arthur at the Ministry and "he doesn't look good Albus." Lovely page to be stuck on.

The sign was thrown together five minutes before Trick-or-Treat began.

Top Three Notable Moments of the Night:
-- Three oh geez they had to be ten year olds were my first customers. They kept pushing each other forward saying "I'm not scared, you go." "No, YOU go!" >D
-- A Dorothy actually came by, with her parents and younger brother (dressed as a ducky, so cute.) I demanded the ruby slippers, which she was wearing and she hid behind her Mum (oh the kid was like nine!) but finally relented and said "I'll bide my time. I'll get you my pretty, and your little duck too!" They walked by again about ten minutes later down along the road (my front yard is fairly big) and I had nothing better to do so I called out "That's right Dorothy! Run back over the rainbow!" At least I heard her laughing that time.
-- Two older girls came around near the end (probably their last year I'd reckon) and told me I had the "best house yet." I asked how many more they had to go and they said "just the end of the road." I'm the sixth house to the end, with one of them empty, three always just opening the door and handing the candy, and one that doesn't participate, ever. Excellent ego boost to my fun. *Note - Angi loves acting*

BEST Moment of the Night:
-- This little band of six/seven year olds came along, about four of them, and one was dressed in a full-out Harry Potter costume. I started to shrink and went "No! Not... Harry Potter!" This kid stepped in front of his friends, drew his little wand at me and said "EXPECTO! PATRONUM!" IT WAS SO FREAKIN CUTE!!!! When I told him he should have been here last year to see Hermione he said "Well I didn't know!" Oh and he had to point his wand at Voldie!scarecrow too. So damn cute.

Afterward I went to the back of the nieghborhood to visit some kids I sit for now and again since they couldn't make it all the way down to our place in the cold. They loved my outfit. Then Dad and I stopped by work with me in costume so I could get my paycheck. One of the guys actually yelped and almost dropped the tub of pepperoni he was carrying. *cackles*

I love Halloween.
