In December of 1997, I donated by aspiration for a female in Europe. She passed away 50 weeks after my donation. The minimum time after donation before we could trade contact information was one year. All I'll ever know is female in Europe...

Yasher koach! Would you be OK with my mentioning this to Mike R? I think he'd like to hear the story.

(BTW sorry to be mundane, but you may want to consider adding a cut-tag.)

Actually, would you mind not telling Mike? I've been keeping this pretty close to my vest for a while now. While I'm comfortable sharing it with friends on LJ, I'd really rather it not end up in an alumni newsletter or anything.

(You're right, I really should throw a cut tag in. I'll do that now...)

Yasher koach. You have saved an entire world, and I am in awe of you. I'm registered, but I don't know if I could actually go through with it if they called me.

This is an awesome thing for you to have done. I'm in the National Marrow Registry myself, and hearing your description actually makes me feel less scared about being called on myself. I'd have done it anyway (I think), but this is better. :) Good for you!

(And big floppy baby hugs do, in fact, make everything better. :) )
