Random music

My computer randomly plays music. Like a second or two when it has been quiet for a while. Is this possible to by a symptom of something?

If something random happens with every music application, you may want to reload the sound card driver. Those drivers can get corrupted. Also in some cases the sound card itself (or the system board or the connections) can get damaged by power surges, etc. Turning up the microphone boost, while using external speakers with independent volume settings irrespective of system volume control can cause you to hear some buzzing. Be forewarned that the "loudness" option on Windows XP is not appropriate for all speakers; it can cause some damage that is only relieved by reloading the driver and using other speakers.
