... Hee...

I saw Dir en grey live... And it was good... When I see Duel Jewel live as well and get to marry Yuya, I can die happy...

But for now...

Anyway... Got woken up yesterday (29-07-2005) by Am at 6.30, took a shower, grabbed something to eat and went to catch the train to Nivelles (Nijvels in Dutch). Train ride was very uneventful, like most trainrides are. No crashes, no sudden Dir en grey member sighting, nothing, zip, nada... Just watching Am draw something o_o...

And then we had to walk over a kilometer or something to get to the festival site... It sucked horribly and by the time we were there, we were both dieing from heat related inconveniences :/. But that doesn't really interest anyone. Anyway, we arrived on time, but had to wait almost another hour before we were allowed to get in and then we had to wait ANOTHER 30 minutes or so before we could actually get in 'get in'... Yes, quite an annoyance... They were still soundchecking the equipment or something O_o... but anyway, we got in after waiting more than an hour XP.

The festival was set up with two stages, one of them was in use while the other one was being prepared for the next band to play on that other stage (so, stage one was in use while stage two was being prepared. After band on stage one was done and kicked off of it, the next band plays on stage two while stage one is being prepared. Repeat ad nauseum).

Anyway... First band to play had only a small audience due to entrance staff being slow and and such... poor band people... They weren't that good anyway, so not like I care -o-/.
Second band was some French band called 'My Pollux'... Not much to say there, just that they were okay... :/ They looked pretty flashy and stuff, but meh...
Anyway, the only two other bands worth mentioning were 'The Film', who had a very gay-acting vocals/bass (I think it was bass... don't remember too well XD;;; ). Their songs were a lot better than of those other bands who were only average at best :p.
The other band worth of mention was called 'Liquido'. They were really good o_o/. A bit of interaction with the crowd and interesting songs XD. Plus they cracked me up when they had this song where they needed a female vocal but did't had one and appointed their 'resident lolita member' to sing the female vocals XD (bear in mind that the member in question was this huge towering guy XD). But yeah, great band :3.

But anyway... After waiting for 11 hours (one of which was spend standing in the streaming rain with occasional gusts of chilly wind XS), we FINALLY were awarded with... Dir en grey roadies doing soundchecks -_-;... BUT! After the soundchecks were done, Dir en grey finally came on stage!!!!!!!!... Can you tell I'm happy? :3?

Yeah, they rocked. And Kyo kept the fake blood to a minimum :p. Don't need to see the blood that badly, as long as they played, it was fine with me :3. And play they did. And how! OMG, to have your first ever jrock live to be Dir en grey is just great, even if it was only for an hour, is just mindblowing... I'm quite the happy camper :3.

Kyo was like 'grrr -w-/' XD. And Kaoru was all 'wanna piece of me?! HUHUHUHUH????? \ò_ó/ Yeah! Thought so -o-/ I'm hot and schmexy -o-/'. Die was all 'Oh look! People! Oh hey! My geetah! ( ^o^)//'. And Toshiya was all 'grrr! I'm a zombie with cousin Itt problems! Grrr! \(|||)/'. And Shinya was 'Okay, crazy fans, let me get to my bloody drums okay and I'll totally blow you away ( -o-)/'.
It was great! Especially since we were able to procure a front row view... Just about right in front of Kyo x). And then the band played... Nothing describes how cool that was... So I'll just leave it at that.

Observations about band and fans:
- Shinya drums hard O_o/... Very hard... I can't believe how hard that stickman can bash away at those drums of him... he played on one of those big ass drum sets with two of those feet drums or whatever they're called O_o
- Kyo spat out only a little bit of blood... And goddamn it was hot, in a strange way O_o;
- Die was pretty bouncy from what I could see. It was cute X3
- Kaoru... Well... That guy just about cracked me up when he egged on the crowd by teasing us and going '\\(-o- ) ( -o-)// Oh yeah! You can cheer better than that! Come on, lemme hear how much you love me!!!' XD. He is funny :3
- Toshiya... Oh how ye doth hath changed... He looks like a crackwhore from Mexico who dyed her hair blond... T_T;;; Plus, he hid his face behind his hair... TOT/ So I couldn't take any decent pics of him... ._.\ Damn that guy XP
- The show was great like nothing to compare. I don't remember all the songs they played, but they did play Saku, Dead tree, Machiavellism, The final, Mr Newsman and then some... Maybe I can find the setlist somewhere o_o/.
- During some of the songs, the crowd sung the lyrics and Kyo listened to our horrible and mangled Japanese :P. Fun times to be had by all... I bet afterwards, the band were all like 'so, what were they singing? It kinda sounded like what it should be, but not quite o_o;' XDDD. I bet they laughed at us :P.
- Shinya was the only one of the bunch who actually came up the stage during the soundchecking XD. The crowd went wild when he did and this one guy kept on yelling his name. I told him to ask Shinya to marry him :P XDDD. German guys are funny XD.
- I feel a bit bad for the band on stage one before Dir en grey... ^^;;; We kept on chanting/yelling 'Dir en grey' during their time... ^_^;;;; O_o;;; But it's not our fault they sucked O_O;;;/
- An hour and then some before Dir en grey was up, it started raining hard -_-;. And then there was the wind XP. But when Dir en grey came onstage, it stopped raining... Weather gods having a taste for music? x)
- The fans were a great bunch overall. Especially the early people. I met some people from LJ there :). But as the time wore on and latecomers started to come in, they started to get rude like whoa :/. First of all, us early birds had like, the entire front row, but afterwards, we were pushed away by those rude, late fans :(. Bleh... Just coming in and pushing others away like that XP...
- Crowdsurfing was done here :/ Hated it XP. They only did this during Deg XD;;;.
- Didn't catch any picks :(. But did get about a dozen or so of those promo discs XDDDDD;;;;;. They kept on dishing them to people, so I took advantage and got a lot of them XD.
- There was this 'Kyo cosplayer' and man, was that bitch rude!!! O_O/ Just shoving people out of the way and shit ò_ó/... Bah... Backhanded bitch >_>/...

Anyway, this show was great!!! Afterwards, we went and got some merchandise! :3 Hee... x)
We had something to drink before going back to Antwerpen. We missed the last train that went straight to Antwerpen, so we had to take different trains -_-;. Am got a headache because of all the loud music and the total lack of sleep she had (or rather, didn't have) and she threw up o_o;... Poor Am... Poor drink she threw up O_o/.
Because of all the rain and all the sweaty people, I smelled really funky by the time we finally got back at Am's... We didn't get back until after 2 in the morning XD;;;... And did I mention I spend almost the entire way home only wearing wet clothes? Am was cold so I gave her my coat, that miraculously ended up dry O_o;... Magic coat +5 against rain XD. So yeah, I smelled funky AND I was cold-ish XDDD Great way to end a great day XDDDD.

Edit - Kyo stared often at the people near him O_o. I got stared at by Kyo... What an honor... If it hadn't been for the fact that I looked like ick because I was drenched by all that pouring rain -_-;...

Edit2 - Dir en grey played mostly songs from the Withering to death album... When I heard them on cd, I thought they were sucky at best, with just one or two exceptions. I liked them a bit better once someone on the jrockhumor community transthingied some lyrics to garbled Engrish... But really, this album was meant for being heard live... It sounds so much better live than on the album \°o°/... X3

Edit3 - This is the setlist, which I nabbed from forever_mist, who nabbed it from nemesae :p --

These be the tickets to the festival itself plus the dorky bracelets we had to wear... I'm a bit miffed it's not from hard and sturdy plastic :(. They just look cooler that way ._.;
