Argh! Thanks a lot maramijade. I have thus turned my ADD addictive personality to Gargoyles. Obsess much? Loved Gargoyles as a teenager. Came home from high school to watch it daily. It was such a great animated series, and now I realize, I think, why I feel for Anita Blake at first (the early books) because Elisa and Anita have a lot in common. ( Read more... )

as I realized when we were watching it, so much of those characters structured my views of other characters down the line

:: shock and awe:: especially my star wars characters that I fell completely into

Common! Karrde? so completely Zanatos! -- if a little bit more morally alligned. .

and I realized that Mara. . . in my mind had something to do with Fox. . .

That's it Zahn was watching. . . wait never mind. . . Disney was Reading Zahn!!! ( 91 vs 94)

;)

I think you make a good point, because think about this and what I think Zahn did right and Lucas maybe did wrong in I, II, and III was that Star Wars: ANH was a very strong, archtypical myth. Joseph Campbell and all and the Hero's Journey and EVERYONE (even in my game writing book) brings up Star Wars as THE thing in this generation to look at and pull Archtypes from. I think Zahn pulled thos Archtypes through to his triology and Lucas sort of forgot about it, and tried to force a character into a story, instead of pulling it at the roots and well, that's another discussion, but Gargoyles has a lot of very typical Archtypes, with the whole You know, David vs. Goliath theme and all (nice and twisted) and wacked out mythology running rampant - it speaks to us on a level we ay not even really understand, we just know.
