It's my understanding that searches outside of lj do not bring up any of the content of lj accounts. I checked this out when I first started posting by searching for all kinds of words and names that were in my posts, just so I'd know what kind of privacy I had. Alas, Tom Hein will not find his name here unless he has a livejournal of his own.
I wondered about that, but know that if you search for certain subjects that have communities on LJ or if you search for a particular fiction that is on LJ it will come up in a google. I wonder if it is that the content of an LJ community is googleable - but that personal journals aren't.
I would have thought that would only apply to friendslocked entries.
i just did a facebook search for him. There were 7 Tom and Thomas Heins, but none of them were the "real" Tom. But with 7 Tom Heins out there, wouldn't at least one of them show up on google? I guess other people don't lead the exciting public domain lives that we do. Strange.
Oh, there are Tom Heins that pop up on google. Some dude that works in public works in Kansas. Another that is alumni of some Catholic University. One that's an engineer I think. I haven't investigated each one of these - but unless Tom really switched it up since I saw him last - he's none of those guys.
