I'm very excited about the upcoming overhaul of my web site! I've moved it to a new hosting site where I can access it more easily, and I'm working with the lovely Kelly Shorten on the design, color scheme, and layout ( Read more... )

Disorganization of information or too much information.

I can't stand websites that are overcrowded with information; I prefer a clean, easy to navigate look.

Noted! So better to have multiple pages with additional information hidden behind "expand" buttons people can access if they want than to have everything all thrown out there right away.

Agreed - too many visuals. I like a clean look, and a visible but not in-you-face index of links to pages like bio, books, etc. Also the website should be searchable so when I come back looking for soemthing, I can find it easily. Most blogs have a little "search tool" thing somewhere that you can add.

Also, I think a lot of authors forget that I'm there to learn about them and their books. They can blog about whatever they want, but a ton of links and pics and random graphics in the margins on either side of the text block are very visually distracting from the content of the blog - which also often has pictures!

I'd never thought of that, with everything cluttering the margins, but now that you mention it, I realize I've been annoyed by it on web sites in the past. With all my book covers, there will be plenty of graphics as it is.

I like a clean look on a web site. A well polished luck, One without too much clutter on it. Do not like sites with videos.

Thanks, Claudia. No videos at all or just videos with the option for you to watch them or not watch them?

I think the clean, organized look is established, but let me mention one more thing: too many pictures, particularly / especially moving gifs kill slower computers - like mine. :(

Even if it's google ads or something, if you can control it, please do so.
