VivaMacau were doing cheap flights direct from Sydney to Macau, but I just tried to check their prices and apparently they don't have any flights at the moment. But they were pretty cheap, and avoided the multi-stop fuckabout.
Also, most airlines will fly much more cheaply to HongKong, which is just an hour and a few hundred Mop away.
