Ashe and Shania both tend to get labeled as "bitches"...and they're probably my favorite characters in both games. XD;; (Well, no, I like to write more fic with Johnny. But I use Shania for pictures more. :D)
I found that a lot of the comments for Hilda mentioned her dress and her style of speech (In the JP version she tacks on "nya" to the end of sentences), so I think she's just a fun, flashy character that people really like. Another crazy Valentine ftw!
All I typed was "konnichiwa" (though it may be the wrong 'wa'; haven't seen that spelled in a while) at the beginning of the post, and Johnny's name in katakana.
I see neither women as 'bitches'. What exactly do they mean by bitches? Headstrong women? Grrr! I like Ashe only when paired with Basch. >.> <.< Though I don't really have favorites in FF12.
I like Larsa/Ashe right now, but no one's ever written it. XD *cough* Okay, there's also Balthier/Ashe, Larsa/Penelo, Vaan/Penelo...
But I'll read just about anything if it looks well-written.
I can see people's cases for not liking Shania--there are a few things that, even though she has good reasons for doing them, might really rub people the wrong way. Ashe? I don't get at all.
#2 is one I've used. I'll have to reprint the pages as I've lost them. It helps when knowing what anyone says.
As for Jap. to comp. I can't even read it here at work... little boxes! But I'm not sure I'd know how even if I were home. *thinks* possibly the uni-comp software. old stuff old old stuff.
...I'm still not quite sure. The mouth looks like a smile, but the eyes and sweatdrop look freaked out. XD The second link's really interesting though.
I know a lot of people can type it, but I don't know how...I just, uh, have the language package installed and copy/paste what I need in Japanese...
I don't think I can type in Japanese on this computer...though I guess if someone told me how, I might know?
Eh. Now I wanna type in Japanese! D: LOL.
I guess I can see where people might think Shania is a "bitch" or Ashe too, but yet...I don't know. "Bitch" better describes characters like Karin in Enchanted Arms (pronounced Ka-reen, ew)...someone who uses people for her own purposes and doesn't treat people with a lot of respect, but certainly loves herself to death. Shania and Ashe may seem unreasonable, maybe even a little cold, but...not to the degree I've always imagined "bitch" to mean - though I suppose it might also be that I'm an American that I see it that way. LOL. I think I'm just used to it, so I'm numb...?
On my computer it was already installed--do you use Windows, and if so, how recent is it? I just had to go into the control panel, under regional and language settings...
See, I really don't understand why people would call Ashe that. I can understand why they'd say that for Shania--she doesn't have a pure motive for helping Johnny in the beginning, and actually, depending on how much she knows about the Malice (and I'm pretty sure she does know enough), it could be argued that she's deliberately putting him in danger. Add that to her bull-headed determination to get Lady, and even though she *has* good reason for what she's doing, I can see why people wouldn't like her. I just think they should. :)
