For some time now I have refused to ever back up any files on my computer. It is kinda like playing Russian Roulette. It gives me a little bit of a rush to know that I could lose the entirety of this neato story I'm writing. Or that all of the different cover letters I've written for jobs would all be gone. Don't worry. You won't suffer massive hardware failure and lose all your files until you have been accumulating them for at least, say, 3 or 4 years. There is a certain kind of precision that is to be admired, from one villain to another, when your computer fucks you so completely.

And I weep bitter tears even when 95% or more of them are backed up. I suspect, however, that our relationships with our computers are perhaps quite differrent.
