I've been reading Forever War, which is a sci-fi take on the Vietnam War, contrasted to Starship Troopers being the opinion of war of a Korean War era vet. Forever War's take on sex is, well, 1970's orgy-futurism, but it is what it is.

robbins is a very avante garde "coffe table philosopher"... reminds me a little of a cross between douglas adams and hunter s. thompson. if you can't find jitterbug, still life with woodpecker would be my next recommendation.

i consider the difference engine a classic, but i've talked to two different people i've observed reading gibson lately, and neither had heard of it. if you've read it, great. i love the paradigm shift for cyberpunk.

Have you read the Dune books by Frank Herbert (not the trash his son is publishing)? They are so well written.
