I have written entire essays on this exact topic. To sum up, I think that life is not a right, it is a fact. Life isn't a tangible thing that can be owned, per se, but in theory, or concept, the closest owner we can finger is the self. I own my life. Like my words or pages, I can choose to build upon this life, or burn it down in turn because it is mine. The rub here is whether or not it is possible to give part of the life you own to someone else, IE couple-hood, and if you can, in fact, cause a duel ownership, do you owe the other party involved part of the decision making process when changing or ending that metaphoric deed? Either way, I own my life, as you own yours, and it is the intrinsic "right" of each owner to lead these lives to their ends, however those ends may come.
