Summary : One stupid act could lead into wonderful result. And Takaki never regretted it in the end, when he knew Yabu would be there.
It was lovely evening and Yabu just want to enjoy this cold and fresh breezes plus searching for his childhood friend who said he would be back soon, but he never expected to see his friend on the tree, looking kind of devasted.
“do I wanna know why are you up there Takaki?” he asked while raising one of his eyebrow. Takaki was looking at him hopefully and relieved. He was looking down at Yabu with his puppy dog eyes that asked to be saved.
“emm. Promise me you won’t laugh first, then help me get down.” Takaki was pleading with his cute expression that made Yabu wanted to laugh at how helpless he was presented. He managed to hold his laugh though as he watched how Takaki really was in trouble.
Takaki was pouting at him from above as Yabu was just looking at him mockingly and wasn’t moving at all from his spot under the tree to help him got down. He could at least get a ladder or something.
“and why would I do that? I can see you love being up there?” Yabu was teasing him while smirking at him.
“Kota!!please help me down.” Takaki was whining at the older boy. He was sore all over his body for being up there for hours. It was because that stupid kitten. And his own stupidly that led him in this hopeless situation.
“Yuya, I need to remind you that it’s not for free.” Yabu said while showing his toothy smile at Takaki. Ugh, Takaki really hated that smile which meant Yabu wanted something from him and Takaki had learnt his lesson. A price for Yabu was so not cheap. He needed to prepare himself for whatever came from Yabu. He signed for like a hundreds time today. And said yes he was willing to negotiate.
“sure whatever. Just let me get down from this stupid tree. I can’t feel my leg.”
“just jump. I’ll catch you.” Yabu smiled so confidently while spreading his arms wide.
“what? Are you crazy? It is freaking tall. No way I will jump that high. I will broke my leg.”
“if you want to get down. Then just jump. If not I’ll let you hand in there a little bit longer.”
“ugh, could you get me a ladder or something?”
“I don’t see any ladder on my way here. And beside this it’s already dark and the park is getting quite. I can find someone to help me to find that ladder but that will take a time and in the meantime I will leave you alone in the dark. Do you really want to be left alone in this scary park without someone to accompany you?” Yabu was really good at persuade person to follow his intention, and Takaki never won against him.
“okay okay. I hate you. Just make sure you catch me or else..” Takaki was leaving his sentence unfinished. Not because he knew his threat never affected Yabu but he was already tired and needed to go home immediately. Or else he was gonna do something so embarrassed in his entire life.
“ya...ya...I’ll count till three, kay. One ..two...three...”.
Takaki jumped on Yabu spreading arms when the later said “three” and both of them stumbled over and fall on the ground with Takaki’s body laid on top of Yabu chest.
“hufffhhh. You’re heavy. Get of me now please.” Yabu was shoving the other boy from above him.
“sorry. Told you, we could use some ladder.” Takaki said while brushing himself off while helping Yabu stood on his feet.
“nah, it’s okay. I manage to get you down, don’t I?” Yabu was smiling and caressing Takaki chin to move some dirt there.
“yeah, Thank. I think we should get home by now. My mom will be looking for me if I don’t get back soon.” Takaki was about to move forward when he stumbled over nothing and Yabu caught him right away before he hit his head on the ground.
“are you okay?” Yabu asked him while holding his right arm tight. Afraid that Takaki might fall again.
“yeah, I think so. Don’t worry. I just can’t feel my leg. It’s stiff.” Takaki said while massaging his right leg. No wonder after being on tree for so long, his leg became numbness.
“come on hop on my back. I will carry you.”
“what? No need to do that Kota. I can still walk.”
Takaki refused Yabu’s attempt to carry him but nothing work as Yabu sling Takaki’s arms over his shoulder and hooked his own hand on Takaki’s back knees.
“shut up Yuya. Just let me help you, kay.” Yabu was anything but determined, so Takaki just let him took him home on his back.
“ne.. ne... Yuya. You haven’t told me why you were on that tree, you know?”
“promise me you won’t laugh. I’m serious Yabu Kota.”Takaki was about to hit Yabu on his shoulder when the older boy shake his body to prevent his laugh. When Yabu nod and promised for his dear life that he wouldn’t laugh, Takaki began his story.
It was lovely afternoon and Takaki decided to take a walk to the park. It was almost winter and Takaki loved the scenery when the petals and the leaves fall on the ground because of the wind. He was enjoying his lovely falling flowers when he heard a meow from above. Then he saw a cute kitten was stuck on that tree and couldn’t get down. For being such good boy he was and because the kitten was so cute, Takaki decided to give a hand. In spite of he had no idea how to climb a tree. But after some trial and error, he managed to climb that tree and reached for the kitten. But much of his surprised, the cute little kitten jump down and left him alone on the tree without any idea how to get down.
By the time Takaki finished his story, Yabu couldn’t help but laughing so hard until he dropped Takaki on his butt. While holding his sore stomach-it’s hurt for laughing that hard-.
Takaki was going to kick him for being mean-for laughing at him and for dropping him-his ass hurt because of hard road. Yabu was going to pay.
“hey. You promised you wouldn’t laugh. You meanie.” Takaki was throwing small punches at Yabu and succeed making him stop.
“okay...okay....stop that Yuya.” He said while catching both of Takaki wrists and locked them in his arms.
Takaki was pouting at him and Yabu found the other boy so cute and leaned to kiss that pouty lips. Takaki was startled as Yabu kissed him; his mind was stopped working at the moment Yabu soft lips were touching his. It was so sweet. But before Takaki could respond -to kiss back or to push Yabu away- the kiss suddenly stopped. Yabu’s lips were a millimeter away from Takaki’s. Takaki could felt his warm and ragged breath. And he realized his face was as warm as well. Yabu was looking at him intensly, since there only five centimeters different of two of them, Takaki was able to look back without had to tilt his head.
Yabu eyes were so sparkling with excitement. He was looking at him like he was the only matter in this world. He was smiling to. And Takaki wanted-no needed- his beautiful lips to touch him once more, to felt the sweetness from those addicting thing which he never dared to dream about touching them. Yabu Kota, he made him so screwed.
Takaki was dizzy because all his senses were flying away when Yabu kissed him once again. The kiss was a thousand times better when he saw it coming.
Yabu was kissing him so sweet like he was somehow precious and delicate. And Takaki loved every second Yabu’s lips touching his. His tongue was asking for entrance and Takaki let it in. He felt his body shaking with just how intense Yabu was kissing him. It was just a kiss and nothing more -Yabu arms were securely around Takaki shoulder to prevent him from falling on his knee- but it was the most amazing thing that Takaki felt after his-so-awful-afternoon-.
They both were panting by the time Yabu let Takaki lips go. His lips were swollen thanks for Yabu, but he was grinning like idiot he might be. But Yabu was somehow grinning too with his equally swollen lips and red cheeks. Takaki was sure his cheeks were red too since he could feel he was blushing mad and hot all over his face.
“what’s that for, Kota?” he was asking while trying to pull himself together, to make his face less blushing.
“I told you, didn’t I? The price wasn’t going to be cheap.”
“huh?” Takaki was looking at him with his confused face while Yabu was back on his usual self. The proud and confident Yabu.
“the kiss is the price for saving you.” Yabu was smirking and Takaki wanted nothing that to wipe that smug smile from his handsome face. He was pouting at Yabu and said.
“you are such a tricker.”
“ya..ya..and I know you love me and that kiss as much I love it.”
“shut up!” Takaki was sure his face was blushing again.
And Yabu answered him by his melodious laugh before swept him of his legs and carry him on his back again.
“come on we need to go home now. Or your mom will strangle you alive if you broke your curve.”
Yabu said while started walking to their direction. And Takaki pouted even more when Yabu reminded him about his curve. He was seventeen you know, he was no longer a baby that needed to be worried about every single times. But that was just his typical mother to fuss over nothing.
“shut it Yabu, aunty will surely ground you if you late to back home too.”Takaki said while sticking his tongue at him. But Yabu just laughed and took his beloved one home safely.
Seriously, Takaki was a child sometimes-no scratched that, all the time-. But Yabu thought that was Takaki’s charm after all. Takaki being so cute and stupid at the same time was somehow made Yabu fall deeply in love with him. And seeing Takaki reaction when Yabu kissed him back there, he clearly wasn’t oppositing his idea.
“good night Yuya.” Yabu said when he turned his head and found Takaki was sleeping save and sound on his back. He must be really tired; Yabu chuckled at his adorable childhood friend-soon to be boyfriend-as he looked so peaceful on his deep slumber.
Yup, Yabu was definitely didn’t mind this cute and airhead boy to be his beloved one, since he already had his heart since the beginning.
