You may or may not be aware, but there's a tv show called "WCG Ultimate Gamer" on tv. I believe someone told me about it recently, but let it lapse from my memory until last night. I was tuned in to watch the Office on Hulu and instead of watching 30 Rock afterward, I saw and clicked on the link to this show.

The latest episode also involved playing Halo3, but they had to do it while standing on a pedestal for several hours, with the hosts coming in at intervals to offer the players temptations like food or money. Which is ripped almost directly from Survivor.
I kind of liked it, apart from the blatant unoriginality. But they need to do more gaming and fewer physical challenges. From the previews, it also appears that they had to do a real-life dance contest to parallel DDR. I can't imagine that being anything other than painful to watch. Physical challenges are sports. Sports already have their own shows.

I kinda liked the physical challenges for the Halo one, though, because it tapped DIRECTLY into what makes a good Halo player. The team that communicated the best and worked as a team the most won the challenge. It wasn't about physical prowess, it was about teamwork and strategy. The bomb arming real-life challenge was cool - they had a hooked stick thing and a rope to pull their bomb out of a cage full of stuff, and then they had to 'hack' the access code (basically a 4 digit number sequencing game) to get into the opponent's base and place the bomb on the pedestal. It was pretty groovy.

In just the past few months when, mind you, I've had barely any time to play games, new games I've played include the Samurai Shodown Anthology, Street Fighter 4, Bit.Trip Beat, World of Goo, R-Type Dimensions, Soul Calibur 4, Castle Crashers, Gradius Rebirth, and I've got the Penny Arcade games on tap to be started soon. I'll grant my gaming tastes aren't mainstream - a lot of retro stuff, fighters, and shooters - but if even I can find a metric ton of good stuff, so can that guy!

2. I'm so tired of hearing about "casual" gamers and how they are ruining things.
3. In a rant where you rail against a loose definition of "gamer" you use the term "casual game" and never define it?
feh.

Also, I'm not frustrated at all by the things you post. I'm sorry it came off that way. Also, I like you a lot, personally. I can understand/am used to my internet writing coming off as too argumentative, but I really don;t know why you would think I don;t like you.
(if you don;t like racing games (specifically wacked out arcade style racing) using the wiimote, I don;t think you want excitebots.
