I wouldnt think anyone present would have been bothered by the use of the word Catholic...trying to think who and failing... but in any case it was wonderfully read which suggests an affinity not simply two way between fr Men and Newman but three way including yourself.
Four way, if we count you. And we can't very well leave Maya out, can we? Or numerous folks we can both think of.
I do think some Orthodox hear the word Catholic in a sectarian sense, especially in the context of Newman, whose name is used to abuse colleges and universities who are not sectarian enough.
