YES.

I love to eat with my hands, especially meat. I was a vegetarian for a year or so recently, and I didn't miss meat in that time. But when I came back home and started eating it again, I definitely reconnected with the primal aspect of it. I don't really even LIKE chicken, but I will pick a chicken carcass like it's my job for exactly the experience you are describing.

I had just assumed it was to make meat-eating enjoyable, because we are part-time carnivores and meat is delicious.

Ok, but that's redundant with the fact that it tastes good. We already have a mechanism to make us eat food that is good for us, and that is taste.

It also doesn't explain the aggressive children.
