there are no raindrops on roses (but there's lots on your eyelashes)
bandom // brendon/spencer. 667 words. teen. for schmoop_bingo  - caught in the rain
it's brendon's fault they get caught in a deluge in the middle of a forest. spencer is not pleased.

"I told you a storm was coming in," Spencer said, exasperated, as the first drops began to fall. "But no, you had to go hiking, right now."

Brendon glanced up at the sky and shrugged. "So we get a little wet. It's warm, we'll survive." He looked over a Spencer with a smirk. "You're just afraid you'll melt, aren't you?" he teased. "I always knew you were a witch in disguise." He bumped hips with Spencer.

Spencer rolled his eyes. "Shut up," he grumbled, but felt his lips twitching all the same. He knew Brendon saw it too - he happened to be quite fluent in Spencer.

"It's okay, Spence, you don't have to pretend anymore. Just be your true self!" Brendon exclaimed.

Spencer huffed and pushed at his shoulder, but couldn't help grinning. "You wanted to experience nature, Urie, so shut up and experience it, before it really starts raining."

"I bet it won't even rain that hard," Brendon predicted, squinting at the clouds.

Ten minutes later they were stuck in a deluge.

"Yeah, it's not raining hard at all," Spencer yelled to be heard above the storm. "Good job, you really called it."

"How was I supposed to know?" Brendon pouted.

Spencer didn't even bother to answer, instead pulling his raincoat tighter around himself and scanning the trail for the biggest tree he could find. The rain was pounding down hard, so much that leaves offered little protection. He spotted a big oak, and quickly ran to huddle against the trunk, shivering in his soaked-through shirt. It didn't block the rain, but at least it lightened it a bit.

Brendon dashed up a moment later to join him. His red glasses were fogged up and his hair was plastered to his head, shirt soaked where his Gore-Tex pullover opened at the neck, but he still flashed Spencer a bright grin.

"Exciting, isn't it?" he exclaimed. "This is freaking awesome!"

Spencer stared at him and shook his head. "You're insane. Truly, certifiably insane."

"And yet you love me anyway!" Brendon crowed triumphantly.

Spencer rolled his eyes. "Don't think I'm not asking myself why," he grumbled.

Brendon beamed a wide white grin even as rain streamed down his face, and Spencer's breath caught. Now that just wasn't fair. Not with the droplets clinging to his thick lashes and making his eyes look all wide and whatever.

"It's my boyish charm," Brendon informed him. "And my ass."

"It must be the ass," Spencer agreed.

"It does bring all the boys to the yard," Brendon nodded, twisting around to look at the body part in question. The movement bared the dripping column of his neck, pale skin stark against the red jacket.

Spencer swallowed hard and shook soggy hair out of his eyes. "Are you seriously checking out your own ass, dude? That's just lame."

Brendon's head swung back around as he contorted his face into a pout. "I can't help it that my ass is magical."

Spencer rolled his eyes painfully hard. "Not this again," he groaned, clapping a hand over his eyes.

He didn't have to be looking to see the devious smirk Brendon was surely wearing. "But Spencer! My ass is my superpower! It stuns boys with it's awesomeness so I can have my wicked way with them!"

If Spencer rolled his eyes with anymore force, he was going to pull something. So he kissed Brendon quickly, purely in the effort of self-preservation.

It was meant to be quick, just to shut him up, but Brendon's mouth was on his, cool-wet from the rain, still as sweet as ever, and Spencer couldn't help leaning in to it, bringing a hand up to cup the back of Brendon's head to keep him there. Brendon sighed into the kiss, melting against Spencer's front, warm and damp.

They broke apart, but Spencer held on, tucking Brendon close just for a moment.

Brendon laughed short and sudden, the droplets clinging to his dark eyelashes glinting. "Hey, Spencer. It stopped raining."
