Dumbledore -- Who really died that day?

Okay, here's a little complilation of ideas that madeyemuggle, billywig, and Hedwig at Heart came up with, along with a couple of my own, of course. I just wanted to be sure to mention where it came from.

I had thought along the same line as what Oona did. That the memories were stored there as a safety... protection. In case DD died before Harry could view the memory, to prevent someone from stealing the memory from the Pensieve, etc ( ... )

Just to play Devil's advocate, IF Dumbledore were alive, he certainly would not let anyone know about, most espcially not Harry. Harry would still be going after LV "alone," so it wouldn't make a difference in that regard. In other words, we wouldn't know if Dumbledore was still alive until the end of Book 7. Like you, however, I really don't believe he is.
