Thank you for not spoiling anything serious in the film, because I'm not sure I would have been able to not read it. The movie opens in Ottawa on the 30th, which means I'll be seeing it soon. I think I might even wear my scully cap for the occasion. If I'm really brave, I'll bring my tin flute and play few tunes to accompany the movie.

Yeah, I wanted people to read this because I'm all excited about it, so I made sure not to give anything important away. But really, it doesn't use a classical narrative approach. The main plot points are kinda linked into the history, so if you know the history, you'll know what's gonna happen next. The personal lives of the characters aren't as important.

I would pay whatever it takes to catch a plane to Ottawa just to watch you play a tin whistle along with the movie. I would laugh my ass off so hard.

hey, i waited until i saw it before i read this post just in case it would spoil a plot device.

i like what you said about loach's decision to not dwell on the beauty of the landscape. in most of the shot the sky was completely overcast.

i also love the drawn-out discussions in loach's films. it really does almost compel you to react to it.

what did you think about the representation of the church in the film? at first it seemed really pro-grassrooots resistance "may god give us strength for the struggle before us" but then later it becomes hypocritical. but he never pursues it further.

great movie!!
