Saw some great football games today, both Seahawks-Bears and Pats-Chargers. But what I want to comment on here is the 60 Minutes interview with President Bush afterwards. It seems like they were going to give him a chance to explain the pending troop increase, but I should have know better--it was mostly the camera following him and the reporter

Nouri al-Maliki doesn't want us to leave because he is likely to end up dead in a car bombing about a week later (and I wouldn't be selling him any life insurance either way).

As far as the new troops go... I think most of the tepid reaction in Iraq is actually because they realize that 20,000 troops is a token gesture and not enough to actually change the balance of power on the ground. If we were serious we would be sending a lot more people but we all know that a headline that says 150,000 troops would be unpopular in the US.
