[Beyond the Rift] [Locked to Shapeshifters / Against CLF and Sympathizers]

Dec 28, 2011 00:42

Not too long ago I discovered that the Rift turned me into a shapeshifter. Where I'm from there is no supernatural activity at all, as far as I'm aware, so this is a rather new experience entirely. It was recommended to me that I ask the, ah, community for council.

Is there anyone who can suggest ways to help control the shift? And, is there ( Read more... )

I've always found the best way to control anything is practice.

Yes, but I'm afraid I don't even know where to begin.

Have you figured out what emotion triggers your transformations in the first place?

Yes. Anger, regrettably.

Not one of my proudest moments, I assure you.

Professor Crane! I'm terribly sorry you've been given a similar Rift ability.

Once I discovered the Rift turned me into a shapeshifter as well, I compiled a set of notes on the subject after having discussed it with other shapeshifters myself. Emotional cues that lead to the shapeshifting, techniques that might help prevent them. That sort of thing.

I'd be more than happy to send it your way in hopes that it might be of help to you.

That's quite all right, Miss Granger. It's certainly not your fault.

It would be very much appreciated. I'll be certain to get it back to you as soon as possible.

Well, no. But I certainly sympathize. It's taken me quite a bit to adjust to the changes myself, and I'm admittedly not quite there yet.

Oh! There's no need. I will get you a copy of them so you could keep them yourself. Hopefully, they'll aid you in your own research.

Well it isn't something easy to adjust to.

Why, thank you. I'm sure they will.

It really boils down to self-discipline.

As a few others have already said, shapeshifting is linked intimately with emotional triggers. Whenever I was feeling an emotion too strongly, I'd find myself shifting into an animal.

Unfortunately, early on, there's going to be the inevitable embarrassing moment of shifting back in public.

Oh! And it's really, really important to remember this: you should not remain in your shapeshifter form for over a week to two weeks. Your human brain starts shutting down and you're in danger of remaining in your animal form for good.

I will be doing my best to avoid that situation.

Thank you for that information. I'll certainly keep it in mind.

You're welcome!

If you've got any other questions, I'm around. I've been here for years, and I've been a shapeshifter for years, too.

So I know the drill.

If anything comes up I'll be sure to ask. Thank you again for the information.
