Went out to feed the dogs today. No problem with Houdini, but while I was feeding Toby, I realized the wind didn't sound right. Had this strange rattling sound to it. Go over to Oreo's pen and there's a damn rattler right in the middle of her pen poised to strike. She's clawing at the gate trying to get out, can't blame her for that. So, I let

Cheap snake repellant - sulphur powder. Just spread it thick and they'll avoid it because it makes them itch.

Amazed you didn't take it down in one shot...

Napatha (lighter fluid) also works... though you could just set the thing on fire...

I think we'll avoid the lighter fluid.

The problem was, I aimed for the body ... I wanted to keep it, so I didn't want to hit the head. Since they are pretty much a giant muscle with the internal organs spread out ... well, my 9mm with plinking rounds simply didn't hit anything vital with the first 4 shots. It wasn't until I changed my mind and took a pot shot at the head and hit just behind it (1/2 inch, maybe) severing it's spinal cord through the neck.

I'd like to note here that all my shots hit the snake.
