Flip answer: sometime during the Bush Administration.

I sort of wonder who all of the news coverage is talking to, honestly. CNN was pretending like all that happened was that a Foot Locker got smashed and that everything else was perfectly peaceful. Are they trying to create reality by pretending that the anger has gone nowhere? Are they unaware that such things have a slow burn that overrides increasingly shorter news cycles? Are they trying to justify the increasingly militarized policing of certain neighborhoods?

By the way, the difference in police presence between Bob's house and mine was just ridiculous. Not a cop car in sight here in Bob's white subdivision (dunno about Inglewood). My racially-diverse working-class neighborhood and points east? Look like a Chicago hog yard-crawling with 'em. I bet this verdict has been like fucking Christmas for them. They get to try out all their new toys.
