Just looking at Christmas lights on people's houses and stuff. I feel odd when I think about these poeple. I break things down in my mind a lot. Why are the lights there? To celebrate christmas. Well thoughout..but a lot of Christmas tradition has been for children over the past few decades.

True, but I think a lot of people who really decorate just have something to show, like they do with their expensive/fast/powerful cars......or maybe a form of compensation.
