I have yet to see Mary McDonnell at a Con. I've come to close a few times, I could almost taste it ( Read more... )

The problem is plumb roles for actresses of a certain age are few and far between. Mary is "working" when she's doing cons, and she's making very good money. If a decent movie or really great TV role did come around while she's booked at a con, it's understood that the con moves into 2nd position --just like how Eddie canceled Dragon Con last year to do The Green Hornet.

So, don't begrudge her for making a living. The convention is not getting in the way of her doing anything else, unfortunately.

Firstly, WHOOT ((((((((((((( <3 ))))))))))))))))))))) I miss you ;)

And secondly, you are probably right. I am not begrudging her at all. I guess I am just engaging in a little too much wishful thinking, hoping that there are roles out there. But yeah...unfortunately, what you're saying is probably true and it's sad.

Miss you too, woman!

It's a sad, but true, fact. I know a lot of fans feel like the conventions are beneath her. If she felt that way, I'm sure she'd stop doing them. Also, if somebody told me I shouldn't accept any work unless it was my dream job fulfilled me on a spiritual and creative level, I would have starved these last ten years. Instead, I made a pretty decent living. So I wish the Mary fans would lay off her. She needs to make money just like everybody else.

Well said. I am going to stop complaining and do something about it. Like, I don't know...write a role for her.

You are a wise woman. But you already knew that ;)

ohh gosh yes yes yes !!!
I desperately wanna see Mary on con and I'm dreaming about it !!!
But oh yeah, I really need Mary in more films and shows and all that staff - I need more my McAwesome Lady on my screen &hearts
I've heard so many reports from cons and I really love them very much, but they are talking about Laura almost all the time. I realy love Laura - she is my sine qua non - but we really need the next epic character for Mary. She is briliant, she is extraordinary, talented and sexy woman so why this frakkin' hollywood is so blind :(

and for me ohh she could just come her to Europe and she could just be here...or talking about weather or theatre or whatever she would like to talk - I desperately need her :) even for a one day ;)

Aw (((ARLC))) I know how much you love Mary, but cons let her make a very nice living when she isn't acting, and connecting with the fans keeps her a marketable commodity in the industry. How many fangirls (myself included!) tune in to shows they otherwise might not watch when she makes an appearance? I honestly don't know if it makes an impact on the ratings, but it must, at least a little, for shows like the Closer to seek her out so that we will tune in.

Not many people get the opportunity to hear from others that their work means something to them, how awesome must that be for her? And we have seen how much she loves her fans. :) BSG has given her career a much needed rejuvenation, be thrilled for her. I am sure she is.

xoxo

I get your point, but I guess she does cons in the time she is not working. And as far I know she is working now in The Closer and maybe in her proyect with The Closer's writer.

Anyway.. it's great to see you again here ARCL. I miss you :))
