thinking of hobbits, they must have dry rot, if there's like grass and stuff on top of their houses.... maybe they dip their outter lumber in creosote? (sorry if I spelled that wrong... that black tar-like stuff that railroad ties are soaked in... I think it's pretty flammable though... kinda stinky too)
Nope, not a lot of problems at all. Thats what major housing companies want you to think. There are houses in England that are over 500 years old made of cob and thatched roofing. Do you remember the sod houses that people built when they "came west"? Same principle applied. This isn't the only type of alternative housing though.
