Buying by the Bushel

My priest's wife was talking to me about buying bushels of wheat, etc.  She apparently did this before Y2K.  She said a bushel was like $3.00.  She hasn't run out yet.  She even has a mill to use to and she just uses a sieve to seperate the bran from the flour.  I am really thinking about doing this.  She also said you can buy soy really cheap by ( Read more... )

I found that shelling pistachios in silence is very prayerfull... I imagine making flour, etc is similarly prayerfull.

Yes, many of those repetative actions, like counting knots on a prayer rope, make one able to concentrate on prayer.

Somehow I missed this post when you posted it.

Where are you planning on getting the wheat? Do you know anything about buying whole grains through a co-op?

I've got tons now, but I want to know what to do when I'm no longer at home.

I plan on getting the wheat/soy/etc. at a feed and seed store. I have never been apart of a co-op... I wish I could find one cheap and nearby, but haven't as of yet.
