During our trip to OH &WV we spent a few days visiting my grandpa in the hospital.  He has been very sick for a long while.  I was always worried that I wouldn't get to see him before he died.  The first day he didn't recognize me and only said "Hi Peach" to my little sister, Chloee.  On the second day he said hello to me and asked me how I was ( Read more... )

Hey Arlie, I haven't logged into LJ for ages, but I was reading through your entry tonight and wanted to just share that I was in the same sort of situation with my grandma a couple years ago. I was with her in the hospital when her heart was failing, but the doctors did not know how long she would make it so I left to go back to school and the next day she died. I got so sick on the trip home and decided not to fly back to attend the funeral...I think I know a bit how you feel...regret, a bit of a guilt I guess, wondering why it happened that way...I think the closure has been hardest for me, because the last time you saw them they were alive, you know? I hate that I didn't go back for the funeral sometimes, but then another part of me says, well, you got to spend time with her alive...it just still seems sad. Well I'll be praying for you as I know the grieving process can last a long time...hope you are doing well!
