It was about this Indian girl who was a lesbian and had to deal with her culture's rejection of homosexuality and her homophobic mother who apparently would refuse to recognise her as her own daughter anymore if she was to say she was gay ( Read more... )

THIS POST IS VERY OLD AND ME SAYING THIS HAS NO POINT NOR DOES IT DESERVE ANY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

Capslock aside, I went through this with my parents and was told to die by my own mother. Except I'm trans, not a lesbian. It really fucking sucks. :/

WOW old post IS very old, completely forgot I wrote about this lol!

And yes I totally hear you on that one, one of my friends told his parents he was gay and his mum kicked him out of the house, doesn't talk to him anymore. You think someone that conceived you, carried you around inside of them for 9 months and then raised you and knows you as close as that wouldn't just stop loving you because they perceived something to be wrong with you :( but unfortunately life is shit like that, just have to take it as it comes I guess..

For my mum at least I think it has a bit to do with her cultural background, she was raised in Malaysia which is a Muslim country and homosexuality and other "deviant practices" alike of this nature are not tolerated at all. She's actually a lot better now after she has met some of my gay friends, and realises that they are normal people just like everyone else!

Ah, I wish it was as simple as that with my mother. My mother is just bitter and a Nazi in general... she hates Muslims, LGBT stuff, etc. She's just.. weird. My whole family is :/ They smoke a lot of weed and there's kind of a thing with mental problems in my family anyway, so I think they're just nuts.

But still, yay for your mum actually accepting it. It's not likely to happen with my mum though ¬_¬
