It is jay's week off. Monday he had his morning meeting at work he has to attend and then we had an ob appointment. Later in the day harry had guitar. He also went and test drove some cars. Yesterday we went to our tax person and we don't owe $$ and we would actually be getting $$ back from fed and state but it will all go to our last year's tax

You should have just bought him a car for Valentine's day. Just slapped a big bow on it and said, "Surprise!"

well, the car just got the death notice so we didn't know several weeks ago it was not long for this world. also, i have given him the power to pick what he wants and he has been torturing himself all week with it so there was no way i could have got him what he wanted unless i would have went and bought him the audi S5 for $60K---which was not going to happen.

we might just go to the cities.

What about a decent used car? Or even a crappy used car just for the amount of fixing the green one? That way he's not investing big bucks in a car he really doesn't want?

at the top of the list of things guiding our decision making is getting a car that is reliable for at least 2 possibly 3 years. So crappy used car is out of the question.

so, he has found a used Audi S4. 2006. 50,000 miles on it. It makes him happy and he brought it to a shop and had it checked over and there are no big or even medium problems with it. He should have it tomorrow.

He worked himself all into a tizzy about this. He tortured himself about this.

My only say was we are NOT getting the green car fixed AND you are NOT spending over $20K. Other than those two things i didn't give two shits.
