I haven't done any regular updates in a while. Ho hum. I guess not a lot has been really going on! Mostly I'm just sort of working a whole lot, and practicing drawin' when I can, and reading stuff and playing video games and stuff. Yeah!

Free time seems so valuable when you start working! Like, whenever I get time off, I feel like there are so ( Read more... )

It's kinda slow at first, but I've been enjoying it since I've managed to get used to the writing style. Two chapters in, it hasn't been especially captivating, but it's definitely been enjoyable.

I'm currently playing Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, because shit is addicting yo.

Haven't been reading anything, but I have been listening to pretty much the entire library of Discworld audiobooks at work over the last few weeks.

Is that like a Harvest Moon spinoff or am I thinking of something else?

I've never read any of the Discworld series, but it's on my list. It seems like the kind of shit I could get way into.

The only Harvest Moon I've played is Wonderful Life, which is apparently the "weird one". Those look interesting though, I might have to check 'em out.

Mass Effect 2 was so good, but it probably is better to take it in larger chunks like you suggest. I ended up taking those large chunks involuntarily because I was so damn hooked. And I'm so jealous RE: ICO/SOTC. I want that so bad but don't have a PS3. I haven't played ICO and really, really want to.

For some reason, even though I'm loving the game so far, I'm never like really excited to sit down and play it. I have no idea why, it's just one of those things I have to start playing to be reminded how much I love it.

Same here. I loved the hell out of SotC and I'm crazy excited to play that again, but I've never gotten a chance to play ICO and everyone tells me it's absolutely wonderful.

YEAH THEY'D BETTER BE MY LITERARY STREET CRED IS ON THE LINE

I know just what you mean about free time. If I have the day off I have a terrible habit of not accomplishing much of anything, but if my time is limited I go into overdrive. What is up with that.

I'm playing Kirby Mass Attack, which I was initially sceptical about due to a general dislike for stylus control over buttons, but it's been most excellent thus far. Controls smoothly (though manoeuvring ten Kirbys through narrow obstacles can be tricky), it's addicting trying to get everything and the music is swell.

As for reading, I juuuust finished a book by Donna Tartt (if I'm spelling that right) called The Secret History. S'pretty great, weird students at a posh New England college get all deviant and morally questionable and kinda downright evil. Very poetic yet understated, everything comes across as downplayed and I found it strikingly erudite though not at all pretentious. Everyone's crazy man.

I should look for Machine of Death maybe.

So far I'm liking Owen Meany a whole lot so I GUESS you're good. This time...

What I've always loved about the Kirby folks is that they can have these crazy gimmicks and make them work really well. Like, Canvas Curse was such a crazy concept but it was so obnoxiously fun. But then at the same time they still make straight-up Kirby platformers that are pretty much always great. I might get Mass Attack at some point, I haven't actually played a good Kirby in a while!

If I like these books I might have to ask you for more, 'cause Sungwon likes everything you've recommended and I usually like the same things he likes. And like I said, I never read, so anticipate pestering in the future! Or actually if you have any book recommendations you could just throw them out RIGHT NOW if you want.

Machine of Death is pretty great! I'm pretty sure they only sell it through their website.
