Attention's kind of like a drug, you know? Some people go through bad stages of withdrawal. I just hope nothing like that happens with whoever it is we're dealing with.

Attention is like a drug. But studies have shown that when the criminals are given more attention, they tend to become more cruel more quickly. When they don't have attention, they're far more likely to slip up, desperate for the limelight back. This is why it's normal policy for the media to work with us in this endevour.

It's not an attempted intervention. It's what has been shown to work best.
