Nun! Ha!

When I go to the hospital to get irradiated, I have to sit in the waiting room.  The waiting room across the hall from the irradiation machine.

With:

1.  Bad lighting.

2.  A big TV playing CNN news full blast.

3.  A nun.

Hardly anyone in that room, waiting for irradiation, wants to pay attention to the television, or this nun.  But that's too bad

Is she one of the dwindling number who actually wear habits, or a modern nun in a slack suit? At Holy Family H.S., there was only one nun left who did full habit ... she had apparently joined the order when she was about 17 and had been interned in China during the Boxer Rebellion (she was quite elderly). She was soft-spoken but listening to her I found out that she had a surprisingly wicked sense of humor.
Good luck with your other-conversational gambit. The only non-frivolous suggestion I will make on that is try lots of very direct eye contact.
