Heh...

This morning I woke up, got the kid up, let the kid and her mom go to school, then dropped off again.  Four hours later I woke up, and took a very slow walk to our local park.  I read some of "James Tiptree, Jr: The Double Life of Alice B. Sheldon", then walked home again.  And fell asleep for hours.

When she called I told my wife that no, not any ( Read more... )

When I first encountered you on the internet, you were just your words. They were great words, especially the parts about finding yourself a soccer coach to a crowd of little girls. And you were a friend of boxofdelights, another neat person. So I put you on my friends list.

By now, even though I've never met you and I don't think the person who introduced us has ever met you in person either, you are more than clever words, and I'm still reading, in awe of your courage and humour and, yes, presence of mind inside the absence-of-half-brain.

Have a relaxing and nap-ful weekend! If you feel up to Sunday brunch, it will be great to see you .. if not, no problemo. Let me know if there is anything helpful I can do or arrange for other people to do. JC is back in town and volunteering to help--want some housecleaning? A lunch buddy? Let me know. Would auntie time be helpful? Ditto. Big hugs to you and your pillow.

I may try to email some of you separately as well, since I don't have the password to post to armoire_man's LJ. He hasn't been able to post for a while, and I can't say when he might be able to. To deal with after-effects of the radiation and perhaps other factors, he had brain surgery October 26. Currently he is in a rehab facility. He isn't bouncing back as we had hoped and hasn't had visitors except his wife and (briefly) the sprout. Feel free to email me if you want updates. - friendly_drelb

Friendly_drelb, thanks so much for posting this update. I check back here periodically for new entries, or barring that, an update like the one above. I'm sorry to hear about the surgery and that he's not recovering as quickly as he'd like, please convey my best wishes for his continued and speedy(ier) recovery.
I don't know him IRL at all, not even his real name, and can't quite remember how I put him on my LJ FList but I like what I know of him quite a bit and hope that the strength that he showed in his posts about his cancer and treatment pulls him through this latest set-back.

Oh dear. If there has been any update on his condition, could you let me know? classics.cat@gmail.com

Thank you, thank you. I just realized I hadn't seen a post for a while and sent him an email. Stupid me.

I don't quite know what I'm doing here ... I'm his nephew ... he's not doing well at all ... I may find myself in Colorado before Christmas ...

Dear friends of Armoire_Man, after further tests the determination was made that the worsening symptoms were due to the cancer growing and spreading. Since there were not any other treatments available, he has moved to a hospice here in Denver. He is surrounded by friends and family...his brother and sister-in-law have flown out to be with him. Efforts are being made to get access to post to his LJ account, so official posts can be made.
