Well, I haven't posted in awhile and that's mostly because of work, work, and more work. But I have some time and figured that I'd let you guys know what I'm brainstorming, since it's a pretty cool project (and a few people like Chris will want to kill me for what I'm about to do!
I'm intending to take the case of a Nintendo Entertainment System and mod it into a PC.
Why, you ask? Really because I think it's a pretty cool project. I've been tinkering with computer hardware for ages now and I think it's time for me to take some new parts and put them together. This venture is significantly cheaper than building a machine for more than just gaming. I figure it'll be fun, cheap, and a learning experience.
As of right now, I have a Nintendo that I intend to use. I figure I'll extend this offer to anyone with a Nintendo that needs spare parts. If you need/want spare Nintendo parts, you're more than welcome to the ones in the case. I don't know if it works (I haven't tested them). I tried looking for a Nintendo that was already broken so that i wouldn't feel bad gutting it and defacing the case but I wasn't able to acquire one. I bid on one on eBay and got outbid. I wasn't about to pay $20 + S&H for 3 broken NES systems.
Right now, I'm basically looking for the parts. There are a number of sites that list components used and prices. It looks as if I'll be able to get all of the hardware plus some equipemnt for somewhere around $200. Which isn't at all bad.
