I just watched the 2004 MathCounts championship replay on ESPN. It's like a spelling bee for mathaletes. Totally amazing. I was still reading the question and these 8th graders were already spewing answers like "-37 radical 2 over 4 ( Read more... )

do you ever watch quizbowls? those kids on TV are way better than i ever was at it. my glory moment in high school quiz bowl was when i buzzed in on the last question with the answer "john lennon" (the question had to do with his being shot, in 1980, and who was he). it put us in the lead to win the game.

also, should 'mathalete' be 'mathlete'? like athlete.

haha. awesome.

yeah, I stuggled with a spelling for mathalete. I found three variations of various credibility - mathalete, mathelete, and mathlete - and just went with one.
