Zizek (in the doc Zizek!) mentions that he has a problem of writing and that he plays a trick on himself: first, he says to himself, it's not writing, it's just putting down ideas, but in an elaborated form. And for a while he just writes down ideas, without worrying about the final product. Then, at some point, he tells himself: ok, now I have already got all the material, I just need to edit it, and then the job is that of an editor. I work pretty much the same way when I have to write something, and I find it works.
Aside, your research topics "turn me on", as an American would say.
