I'm Amazed...

Who woulda thunk it? I sent my son upstairs tonight to hang up and put away all the laundry I'd left on his bed... and he did! Neatly, too! Six months ago he would have grumbled and whined until his dad or I went up to help him. There's hope for him yet! Yippee!

How'd you do that??? Mine will usually do it (when we ask), they just typically act like I'm asking them to cut their arm off instead of carry a few clothes to their rooms.

There's been a big change in my son this year. He's following directions much better than he has in the past and even if he grumbles a bit, he generally does what he's told. As for tonight's laundry, I think he realized that most of what I washed today was his and that if he wanted to go to bed, he needed to put his clothes away. Hee!

I went back to grad school when Duffy was eight and was pleased with how much more responsibility for chores he was able to assume. Your future daughter-in-law will thank you. My son's still very good at pulling his own weight around his household and at least one of his sons is following in his direction.

Oh, that's good to hear, Grandma Kate. I'm also teaching my son how to fold laundry, start the washer, take out the trash, and do a little cooking. We're still working on making the bed and picking up his room, but I think that will come with time. I'm glad your son is passing on your teachings to his children.
