I am now in possession of a very nice medieval style hat, seasonal reddish, curtesy a very nice man on eBay. Hah, no more paper crowns for me

It was surprisingly good fun - and educational, naturally: the kids didn't know the old traditions like shouting 'behind you!' & when I hissed at the witch they thought I was shushing them!
Out of curiosity, do you strictly do medeival re-enactment? mM father in law has been in the SCA for ages and dragged me into it years ago, so we do an occasional group outing ourselves. =)
As for crises, just hang in there. The year is almost over and it's been a rough one for just about everyone I know...myself included. And you have a wonderful woman at your side who is good as gold. ^_^ you both are very lucky to have each other.
Hang in there! Here's hoping 2006 is better than 2005!
My groups cover 306 A.D. through to 1150 - the early group can be a bit serious about historical accuracy while the other is a bit more relaxed about entertaining the audiences and more competitive combat. The SCA looks like it keeps the accent on fun for all concerned - although the full contact heavy metal combat looks quite scary!
Okay...so I initially read that as you were in possession of a very nice man and when I got to the name at the bottom of the post I was wondering if all the exposure to yaoi/fangirls had finally got to you...
Yep, we kept the traditions alive - the singing competition, singing loudly to keep the monsters away, even down to Prince Charming being an ex-neighbours star.
Its the victories & little miracles that keep you going. I hope there are plenty for all of us on the way.
