The last two are the baby's room, showing what happened when Dan's sister and I removed the trim. The last owners covered up their own bad painting job by putting fake wood (foam) 1" trim around the top of the room and attaching it with glue and nails. Removing it meant that some plaster and drywall (depending on the wall) came down with it. We also took off the particle-board trim around the window, which was attached less sturdily, thank goodness.
The second and third pictures show the kitchen wall before and after the soffit was removed. We were under the impression that there were pipes (covered in asbestos) hiding behind the fake wall, but nope, nothing there, so down it came.
Today, an electrician is coming to hook things up for a garbage disposal, under-cabinet lighting, an over-the-range microwave, and to change a light fixture and moving some existing wires. My dad's going to house-sit.
