Two people this week have told me the baby's dropping. I really prefer that comment to being told I must be having twins, which I hear far more often than is reasonable. But this dropping thing is more mysterious. Last week, the midwife told me that dropping isn't really what people think it is. Not sure what it is, though. She did say that ( Read more... )

You said before that first babies are late on average, right? So statistically speaking, you're probably safe. :} Let's hope the kid is also a fan of statistics.

Yup, 8 days late is average without interventions. I've been completely fine with that until people started in on this dropping thing. I guess I should be ready anytime between now and March. I've been telling people that I have 2-7 weeks to go.

Is it possible that you're having twins and don't know it? I'd think that's something that can't really sneak up on you.

No. No twins. I have heard of "surprise twins", even after ultrasounds, when one twin hides behind the other. But I am definitely feeling one set of feet in there, there's one head working its way into my pelvis, and seriously, I'm not big enough to be harboring two babies.

Besides, I'm way too much of a control freak to be able to handle that sort of shock on delivery day.
