When Hens Speak....

May 26, 2008 12:38

This is the first post in my journal & it was inspired by a conversation with captivebird about AR as an ideal--not perfect--man. It seems right to adapt Sonnet 130 ("My Mistress' Eyes...") for him, since the sonnet's subject is not perfect either. Since Teh Man has so few flaws, it’s a chance to celebrate the positive. So, with apologies to Wm. ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'm no writer, but with AR as inspiration...can a screenplay be far behind?? :-)

Thanks! Maybe I'll continue this in another 14-line sonnet based on other AR traits like his soft palms (according to at least one hen who shook his hand), his smooth feet (from the photos in Los Angeles magazine) and so on! :-)

Thank you! And thanks for your hen leadership...I followed your steps to the archive to view the scenes from LLD and all of Private Lives...your description of your experience was so perfect that I have nothing to add, except to say that my 'appreciation' of Teh Man is now at an all-time high. :-)

Oh, I'm so glad you got to see them! They are AMAZING, aren't they? I hope you rewinded a lot!

They sure are amazing! I rewound several times, especially to hear Valmont's ragged voice during the letter-writing scene. And in PL to re-watch the comic scenes (falling face down on the pillow!), and his romantic scenes with Lindsay. And to hear him singing (totally on key, yay!), and dancing while reciting dialogue.

Last month Birdie and I were discussing whether Teh Man can dance--I firmly believe he does have a sense of rhythm--and I think he did a very nice job foxtrotting with Lindsay. But would I want to see him out dancing in a disco? Er, no. Unless he was slow dancing. With me.
