I think I figured it out!

Lindsay is also a Pisces and her neck is bare, so it's either her own scarf, or she borrowed it from Alan.

Alan wouldn't have gone out with his fish scarf over a suit and tie--he would have worn it along with an overcoat or other jacket. But if he HAD been wearing a coat/jacket with that scarf, he would have left the coat AND the scarf wherever he left the coat.

So, I conclude that it was Lindsay's scarf, at least for the evening. :-)

It's more likely that she 'stole' his scarf that one time but he got it back later, since we've seen pictures of him wearing it in recent years....

He looks appropriately devilish, in his black shirt & red tie! *lol*
